There are many reasons to add a notebook DVD burner to you current system. First and foremost is convenience. By having access to notebook DVD burner you can copy and back up anything you need to on your system. Simply drop in one of the DVDs and copy whatever files you need over to the disk, burn it off and you are done. It really is that easy. Second, you can also use the device to play back any DVDs that have.

While most people when they here the term DVD think of movies, the fact is that a dual layer disk can hold up to a whopping 16 gigabyte worth of data. That is most peoples entire MP3 collection and then some. While this is amazing, when you look at how much text it is truly mind boggling. 16 gigabyte translates to many million pages of text, more than the average human being could read in a lifetime. All that on one silvered disk, and right at your fingertips.

A Look At Some Features You Want In Your Notebook DVD Burner

When looking at features a notebook DVD burner is slightly different from a DVD burner. The first thing you want to look for is size. A slim sized notebook DVD burner is desirable so that it is easy to port around. If you can find a laptop with one installed internally that is the best way to go, however that can be an expensive option and having an external one can come in extremely handy in certain situations. You want to make sure that the notebook DVD burner will support many different CD and DVD formats. Most important is that it will be able to write to dual layered DVDs. These will hold twice as much information as a single layer DVD and can store almost and endless mount of information.

You also want to check the warranty and manufacturer of the DVD player as quality will vary from one model to another. LiteOn, Sony, and Maxtor make some of the best ones you will find and I recommend looking for those brands whenever possible. The other thing to make sure of is that the drive will work on both Mac and PC systems, as you never know where you will need to grab data from.

Hopefully this has shown you why getting a notebook DVD burner is a great investment for today and tomorrow.

I have tried many a USB DVD writer and found some to be decent and others to be just plain bad. Until recently I thought that I would never find one able to compete with internal burners. While a notebook DVD burner can be very solid, I have found that the Sony 16342 is the best external DVD writer that money can buy. It has a rich feature set and its performance will rival any internal burner you can find.

Why The Sony Is Number One

This USB DVD writer boasts a feature set that includes the ability to work with both Macs and PCs through Firewire and USB ports. It also includes a multi-media software package that is completely compatible with both operating systems. It can burn, play or rewrite almost any disk type. In addition the software provided can edit all sorts of media including sound, video and photos. The reason it is capable of this is because the USB DVD writer has a 2MB buffer that allows you to edit and work with complex files with no slow down in performance.

The Sony USB DVD writer supports any single or double layer DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, CD-R, or CD-RW media. The software that comes with the drive allows you to convert LPs and tapes to WMA or MP3s while also being able to capture, edit, and burn music CDs. You can also do back ups through the drag and drop features making your daily back ups very easy and secure. With the low price of DVDs today there really is no reason not to it this way.

The best feature however is the device’s speed. It boasts a 16x DVD writer that allows you to write single layers DVDS at 16 times speed. You can also write dual layers at 8x which is comparable to most internal drives. The only slow performance is when you copy a DVD to a DVD-R DL disk which it runs at 6x, still a very respectable speed. Everything other than this functions at the maximum read, write, and rewrite speeds available.

Another great feature of this burner is its price. It is far and away much cheaper than any other USB DVD writers that operate at its speed. It carries a two year warranty so you know that the system will last and that you can rely on it for everyday use. I have been using mine daily for a couple months now and have had no problems and no slow downs.

If you have an older laptop without a DVD or CD burner installed, then you probably are looking to get a slim DVD burner. A slim DVD burner is the perfect accessory for any laptop, even one that may already have a burner installed. There are many available models and choosing the right one can be daunting. For my money, I will use the Sony slim DVD burner model DRX-550U. This 8x slim DVD burner is perfect for just about any application you can think of, whether it is burning movies or doing backups of your critical work. A USB DVD writer makes back ups and burns a breeze as it can quickly plug in and be set up when needed, then just as quickly be detached and stored away.

Why The Sony DRX-550U Is My Favorite Slim DVD Burner

Sony has always be known for the exceptional quality and durability of the products they manufacture and this slim DVD burner is no exception. It, unlike many other Sony products, is very affordable and offers you all the features that you need to get started burning right away. The 8x speed means you can copy CDs and DVDs in no time and its super slim ultra portable frame means you can take it wherever you need to go.

The beauty of having a USB slim DVD burner is that no matter where you are you can either get data off of your system to transfer to another, or simply plug it into someone else’s system to copy whatever you need off of them. These portable burners are really the most handy tool a traveling business person can have. They can back your work up, take work with you, or transfer work from a variety of systems and networks.

The great thing is how cheap the media and the actual burners have become. For around $150 you can have a system set up that can get you access to all the data you need and back it up as well. You can also burn off movies for those long continental flights so that you will never be bored. Just find your favorite movie, rip it off and away you go. These simple devices are truly revolutionizing the way business gets done.

After seeing all the benefits you really have no reason not to get a slim DVD burner, and the Sony is the one I would choose.

With the explosion of data recently people have been trying to find an easy and inexpensive way to back up data. With that more and more people have come to rely on a portable DVD burner to get the job done. These slim DVD burners make the perfect accessory for any IT person looking to do a quick back up or simply have more off site storage. The beauty of a portable DVD burner is that they can usually connect up to just about any system through the USB or Firewire port. Once you do this the device will usually automatically mount itself and be accessible from the system, then you can simply start copying away.

Why Use A Portable DVD Burner For Backups

There are some very good reasons why you want to use a portable DVD burner to do your backups. First of is the amount of storage you can get on one. A typical dual layer DVD can hold around 16 gig worth of data. For most casual and even some hardcore users one maybe two disks should be enough for any backup. Once you do the backup to a DVD you can move that disk wherever you want, take it offsite, keep it in a storage closet, whatever is easiest for you.

Secondly dual layer DVDs have fallen dramatically in price making them now extremely affordable. In addition to the actual DVDs being cheap a portable DVD burner is not very expensive either. You can get a very solid one for around $100. Figure another $50 for DVDs and you are looking at a $150 solution to do your basic office backups. How much is that data worth to you? You can bet that it is probably more than $100. These devices make is super easy for you to justify doing weekly backups of the systems in your office. All you have to do is walk over to the computer, plug in the drive, copy what you need and move on. Even better is that you can leave a disk open so that you can continue writing to it and do a back up for every computer in the company on one DVD.

While these back ups are an important part of the functionality of a portable DVD burner, they are not the only one. In addition to this you can also set the system up to copy files you need transferred from one system to another, or even files that you may need mailed out. Got a huge presentation to give to a client simply plug in the burner, copy it, mail it off. This is a great sales tool to get information out to your potential customers.

As you can see a portable DVD burner is a great addition to any office.

Electronic nuts will freely admit that they want simply the best, and this is true with internal DVD burners as much as any other electronic component. So when it comes to finding the best internal DVD burner, there are a few aspects that go into it. Not only do you have to come to terms with what exactly it is you’re looking for, you have to consider pricing, you have to consider quality and you have to consider reliability. In addition, you need to determine whether you’re looking for something specific such as a usb DVD burner.

So What is the First Step?

The first thing you’ll want to do is determine whether an internal DVD burner is best, or if an external DVD burner would work for you. If you’re interested in sharing your DVD burner with multiple computer, an external burner would probably work best. But an internal DVD burner would probably be the choice for any other consumer.

You will also want to consider whether color matters at all to you (it probably does if you want your system to match in the end) and if any extra features like Lightscribe are a buying factor.

I’m Ready to Buy

Once you’ve determined what you want and you’re ready to buy, make sure what you purchase is really the best internal DVD burner for you. You can do this a number of ways, one of which is to find and read consumer reviews of particular products you are interested in.

Another option is to visit your local electronics store and engage a customer service representative to discuss your options. This is helpful if you’re interested in the small differences between particular products, but keep in mind that store sales people are more interested in selling you something than pointing you in the direction that is best for you.

In the end, the best internal DVD burner you find is one that provides the features and reliability you want and expect, while providing an affordable price tag to go with it. Make sure this is the case when you’re ready to buy, and you can’t go wrong.

If you purchase a product that doesn’t meet all of your needs, chances are you’ll be disappointed and you’ll end up on another search for the best internal DVD burner sooner than you’d like.

Being a computer owner you know that things can sometimes go very wrong. Once in awhile something breaks. For example you’ll turn on your desktop and find out your graphics card is simply not working, or you go to put your favorite game in your DVD burner but nothing happens… at all.

When it comes to having to replace your internal DVD burner, reviews are an essential tool before making your purchase choice. But let’s face it; no one has time to spend hours on the Internet searching for consumer opinions on random products. The good news is that there are things you can do to make the process of reviewing internal DVD burner reviews easy and time efficient. Read on to find out how to make your quest for the best internal DVD burner a breeze.

Preparing to Purchase

Before delving into internal DVD burner reviews, make a list of what it is you’re looking for in the product you purchase. The list should include color, features, price, design and abilities. You should also determine what’s most important on your list, consider putting your 3 most desirable items on the top of the list and focus on those first.

After finding products that you’re interested in based on the top 3 things on your list, you can then narrow the options down even further by limiting you search to products that also provide some of the other things on your list, if not all of them. In the end, you should have 3-5 products to focus on and find internal DVD burner reviews for.

Find consumer reviews for the particular internal DVD burners you’re interested in, and this should help you to make a final decision on what to buy. It is suggested that you read at least 6 reviews for each product before making a decision so you can get a good idea of what the product will really deliver. Internal DVD burner reviews are very important because the product is an electronic one, and electronics that aren’t quality tend to malfunction to a point where they are not useable.

Purchasing the Product

Make sure purchase and return policies are a part of your purchasing decision. You should purchase products that have warranties (at least limited ones) and you should make sure you can return defective products. No return policies are very risky policies to agree to, it’s important not to get stuck in this trap.

When you purchase a new computer, whether it’s a laptop or a desktop, it often comes with an internal CD/DVD burner nowadays. However even though your computer can last you a long time, it doesn’t mean all of its components such as internal CD/DVD burners and graphics cards will. This is why computer accessories like these are sold separately, but just like anything else there’s lots of competition out there. This means more choices and price ranges than ever!

When you’re in the market for replacing your internal CD and/or DVD burner, reviews can be extremely helpful in making your decision on a purchase. But before you run off to find the opinions of other consumers, you should determine what exactly you’re looking for in a product. This way you can focus on reviews that would be the most helpful to you.

Options to Think About

An internal CD/DVD burner comes in a few different colors, to help match your machine. You can even find some places that custom make faceplates for customers, but that’s a splurge for many people although still an option. Dual layer burning and up to 32x burning capabilities are at the high end of the spectrum, but simple, standard models usually do just fine for a lot of folks.

Another option to decide on is Lightscribe technology. It’s high on the list of those looking for top of the line internal CD/DVD burners, but not necessary for the average user. In fact, the savings of purchasing a standard product that doesn’t have the bells and whistles like Lightscribe is well worth it unless you burn things for your profession.

Comparing Products

Internal CD/DVD burners come in a nice variety, so there’s plenty to compare. Everything from affordability to reliability should be looked into, but it’s important not to dwell too much on these things. In fact after making sure the products you’re comparing do have the features you’re looking for, you should be choosing a product strictly based on affordability.

In general, the features offered from one internal CD/DVD burner to another are the same and even though you may find higher quality in higher priced products, it doesn’t mean you won’t get a good product with the options that are more affordable. External burners are also an option, and are worth looking into if you’re looking for a good deal on a CD/DVD burner.
